What should I do if I have flood and sewage damage in my basement?

Answered By Maye Teasdale, Editor

Having flood and sewage in the basement may be a problem. This can be a breeding ground for microorganisms that are hazardous to health. The most common type of microorganism that will grow is mold or fungi.

The first thing to do is to clean up the mess. Do it through water splash and with the aid of brush scraping. Make use of detergents to kill bacteria. Dry the place and make sure that it will not cause moisture. Keeping the place always clean and dry will ensure a mold free basement.
